How do I get to Dursey Island?
By car from Killarney:
If you are travelling from Killarney to Dursey, the best route is via Moll's Gap. Take the N71 south to Kenmare. From here simply follow the R571 to Castletownbere and then head west from here on the R572. The route will be signposted with Wild Atlantic Way and Dursey Island signs. By car from Dublin and Cork:
If you are travelling from Dublin to Cork, follow the M7 and M8 motorways to Cork. From Cork the most direct route is to take the N22 road west and then turn off onto the R585 as far as Ballylickey. From here take the N71 as far as Glengarriff and then the R572 west as far as Dursey. The way should be signposted with Wild Atlantic Way signs and Dursey Island signs once you are on the Beara peninsula.

By public transport from Killarney:
The bus, bus number 270, from Killarney to Kenmare takes approximately 45 minutes. This bus connects to bus 282, the Ring of Beara bus, which will bring you on to Castletownbere which will take about 1.5 hours. From here, there is no public transport to the island but it is possible to hire a taxi to the island, price negotiable with the driver. I will be able to provide further direction for you when you arrive in Castletownbere if you wish.
